Subsidizing Philosophical Thoughts

Friday, May 22, 2009

I was laying in bed thinking about how life exists in the universe. What if the energy of life, the conscience, is on a radio like frequency throughout the universe? Think of life forms as a radio receiver. When the body is conceived it picks up this "radio" frequency, when the body dies, it looses the frequency. Maybe a new life form then picks up the unused frequency after the other dies. The frequency or conscience can only operate in the life form to the capacity of that being. So if a human dies the frequency is then picked up by a cat. Although it is the same frequency as before, it can only function to the capability of a cat. What do you think?

Subsidizing Failure's Economic Term of the Week

Phillips Curve

Curve that posits a trade-off between inflation and unemployment. Governments have to decide between lowering inflation but having high unemployment, usually a fiscally conservative government, as people who have money want it to keep its value, or high inflation and low unemployment, a fiscally liberal policy because of the votes. This law does only apply to the short-run.

Comparative Advantage

A situation in which a country, individual, company or region can produce a good at a lower opportunity cost than that of a competitor.

Investopedia Says:

Let's break this down into a simple example. You have two firms that both produce two main products: ice cream and bicycles. The first firm, The Danish Ice Cream and Bicycle Co., is located in Denmark, where dairy milk is abundant; the second firm, The Gobi Ice Cream and Bicycle Co., is smack in the middle of the Gobi Desert.

The Gobi Ice Cream and Bicycle Co. must expend a lot of money to make ice cream, whereas The Danish Ice Cream and Bicycle Co. spends way less to produce the same amount. The two firms are dead even in their production costs for bicycles.

Since The Danish Ice Cream and Bicycle Co. has a comparative advantage with ice-cream production, it should probably consider turning exclusively to ice cream. Along the same vein, The Gobi Ice Cream and Bicycle Co. should probably give up the ice cream and focus on the product in which it is the least disadvantaged (bicycles).

The Liberty Compact

Sunday, May 3, 2009

Restore liberty, not restrict it, shrink, government, not expand it; reduce taxes, not raised them; abolish programs, not create them; promote the freedom and independence of citizens, not the government interference in their lives; observe the limited, enumerated powers of our Constitution, not ignore them.

This is the liberty compact found on the Republican Liberty Caucus website. This compact does not just apply to Republicans but all Americans.

Minnesota Tax Rally 2009

Today a tax rally was held at the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol. I attended the rally with my old man. I was very impressed of the turnout which looked to be about 3,000 patriots. Each generation needs it's own revolution to maintain liberty in the United States. The initial U.S. revolution was not a one time battle to erect a free society, it was a kickoff of an eternity of battles to keep people free from tyrannical oppression. I was disappointed by the lack of minority attendees. I feel the libertarian conservative movement need to find ways to engage this group of Americans. The message of liberty is universal and applies to all humans. Here are some pics I took of the rally, I should have videos up shortly.
